Amorphous Silicon - the next generation!

Take the lead
The pioneering technology for the production of electricity from solar power was the Crystalline module. However, the production of these modules needs a significant amount of silicon. In the 21st Century existing global demand for commodities has driven the price of crystalline silicon in the air and thereby reduced the profitability of Crystalline modules. Today, amorphous silicon (a-Si) are used as a good alternative, since much less silicon is required and the cost per watt can be reduced significantly.

Thin Film Technology
a-Si cells will be produced by vapor deposition of multiple layers of silicon on a glass. These layers are extremely thin and specially designed to absorb different parts of the sun spectrum. This type of cell does have a lower efficiency compared to crystalline, but it's also for diffuse radiation (cloudy sky, low sun radiation, etc.) are suitable. Thin-film solar modules are the ideal solution for those who want to use the environmental and financial benefits of solar energy without sacrificing aesthetics need.

Features and advantages of thin film solar modules
Currently, the production costs for a-Si cells as compared to crystalline silicon solar cells, are one third cheaper.
The manufacture of a-Si cells use less energy and causes no polluting exhaust.

a-Si cells can generate under weak conditions as in the early morning and evening hours and on cloudy days, power. a-Si cells can generate 10% more electricity than crystalline silicon thin-film cells on the same location.

a-Si cells have a better high temperature resistance than crystalline silicon thin-film cells. In general, the generation rate of crystalline silicon at temperatures above 25 ° C is rapidly downward, while a-Si cells recorded only a minimal drop in performance. a-Si cells are thus outstandingly suitable for a variety of high-temperature applications (for example) under desert conditions.

a-Si cells have an attractive appearance and can thus be installed on exterior walls and roofs of buildings. They are not perceived as a foreign body but as an attractive design element.

Why QS thin-film modules?
QS Solar produces thin-film modules using American technology. All production plants are from the United States and guarantee high quality and durability of manufactured products.

QS thin film modules are currently 0.8 meters by 1.4 meters tall and have an effective area of 1 m². They are thus 25% larger than other thin-film modules on the market. The installation costs can be reduced and the efficiency per m² further increased.

QS thin film solar modules have a high quality protective glass, which is also a further guarantee for the quality of the modules. In the second half of 2009 we will introduce new production systems to make even more advanced, more transparent and more conductive oxide glass, which will increase the efficiency of thin film cells by 1%.

QS thin film modules also have the most advanced composite film technology developed by a renowned Japanese company. This composite film is proven to be the best on the market for the manufacture of solar modules with a water seal, wear and applied surface protection and other advantages that make the QS thin film cells even more high-quality and more durable.

QS thin film modules have two different types of support plates for different applications. Glass-backed modules are considerably heavier, but cost less. They are especially suitable for use by power stations. PTP secure modules weigh one third less than the same size crystalline silicon modules. 1 m² weighs only 9 kg and are particularly suitable for use on roofs, plastic tents, walls and other locations which cannot be overly burdened.

Our thin-film modules process has six strict quality checks conducted by our fully equipped testing laboratory and the outdoor durability testing facility. We ensure compliance with the standards of durability and cushioning standards. Our offices in Europe and America have proven customer service skills and have already helped many clients in connection with power plants and other installations.

We offer two types of thin film modules: framed and unframed modules. The dispatch takes place in a package with two modules in a wooden box with 15 packs. In this way the risk of breakage during transportation and installation is significantly reduced.

We also offer a variety of different contract terms that aim to maintain the competitive strengths and long-term benefit of our representatives, importers and installers and to promote a successful collaboration.
